Description of 1746-OX8

The Allen-Bradley 1746-OX8 is a contact output module under the SLC 500 family of programmable controllers. The 1746-OX8 has 8 isolated high-current relay contact outputs. It has an operating voltage ranging between 5-125V DC and 5-265V AC. Additionally, the 1746-OX8 operates at a backplane current of 85mA at 5V DC and 90mA at 24V AC. The heat dissipation for the module is 0.825W per point. Minimum dissipation measures at 2.590W with a total of 8.60W.

 

The 1746-OX8 has a maximum resistive load single delay of 10.0ms when ON and 10.0ms when OFF. Backplane current consumption for the module is 0.085A at 5V DC and 0.090A at 24V DC. In addition, the module has a 0mA maximum off-state leakage and a minimum load current of 10mA at 5V DC. The continuous current per module must be limited to prevent the module power from exceeding 1440VA. The 1746-OX8 has a relay contact rating of 30A at 120V AC maximum with a break of 3.0A at 240V AC, and a relay contact rating of 15A with a break of 1.5A. In addition, the 1746-OX8 has a relay contact rating of 0.22A and 1.2A at 125V DC and 24V DC respectively.

 

The 1746-OX8 has a Class 1, Division 2 endorsement to be used in a hazardous environment. The operating temperature for the 1746-OX8 ranges between 0-60º C (32-140º F) and the non-operating temperature ranges between -40-85º C (-40-185º F) at 5-95% non-condensing operating humidity. The non-operating temperature range is -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. The recommended non-condensing operating humidity range is 5 to 95%. The rated noise immunity meets the NEMA ICS 2-230 standard. The operating vibration rating is 0.015 inches of displacement at 5 to 57 Hertz. The operating shock rating for the 1746-OX8 module is 10 g. the module is certified by the UL, CSA, and CE standards. The rated heat dissipation per energized point for the module is 0.825 Watts. The minimum heat dissipation when no field power is applied is 2.59 points. The total heat dissipation for the module when all the outputs are energized is 8.6 Watts.

The 1746-OX8 module has 8 individually isolated outputs. At 24 Volts DC backplane voltage, the module consumes 0.09 Amps of current and at 5 Volts DC backplane voltage, the module consumes 0.085 Amps. In the on-state the signal delay with a maximum resistive load is 10 milliseconds. In the off-state, the signal delay for the maximum resistive load is 10 milliseconds. The operating voltage range with a 5 Volts DC supply is 5 to 125 Volts and with a 24 Volts DC supply, it is 5 to 265 Volts. The peak off-state leakage is 0 milliamps. The minimum level of recommended load current is 10 milliamps at 5 Volts DC. At 120/240 Volts AC, the continuous current per point is 2.5 Amps. At 125 Volts DC, the continuous current per point is 1 Amp and at 24 Volts DC, the continuous current per point is 2 Amps.
